Gizachew Dessalegn Gedefie is a PhD candidate in Applied Economics at the China University of Geosciences (Beijing), China, and a Senior Lecturer at the University of Gondar, Ethiopia. His research focuses on environmental and resource economics, international trade, global value chains (GVCs), embodied carbon emissions, and sustainable development. His current work integrates multi-regional input–output analysis, structural decomposition analysis, and network analysis, trade gravity model, System General Method of Momentum (SGMM) to examine carbon transfers, structural transformation and value-added trade between the Global North and Global South, with particular emphasis on China–Africa trade.
Gedefie has more than six years of university teaching and research experience. His work has been published in internationally recognized journals, including the Journal of Economic Surveys, Environment, Development and Sustainability, International Review of Economics and Finance, and Sustainable production and consumption. He has presented his research at several national and international conferences on low-carbon development, critical mineral resources, climate finance, sustainable trade, International Society for the Advancement of Financial Economies. His research aims to support evidence-based policies that promote low-carbon economic transformation and sustainable global trade.
