Dr Chatura Dodangoda is a civil and geotechnical engineer and researcher specialising in underground hydrogen storage, rock and soil mechanics, and subsurface energy systems. His research focuses on hydrogen–rock interactions, reservoir and caprock integrity, gas transport behaviour, and the geomechanical performance of geological formations under subsurface storage conditions. He completed his PhD in Civil Engineering at Monash University, Australia, focusing on the feasibility and integrity of geological formations for underground hydrogen storage. Chatura's work has resulted in several peer-reviewed publications in leading international journals and contributes to understanding safe and reliable subsurface hydrogen storage for the transition to low-carbon energy systems. He currently works as a Geotechnical Engineer at Civiltest, Western Australia, specialising in geotechnical engineering and subsurface applications.
